Today I write in mourning. Between Saturday and Sunday, there was a white terrorist who ran over Muslims in London after taraweeh (ramadan prayers). Then in the United States, a teenage Muslim was beaten to death, near her masjid (mosque) between the Ramadan prayers. (Though both situations sadden me immensely, I want to focus on the attack here, in the United States.)
“Virginia police say remains found in a pond in Sterling, Virginia on Sunday are that of a 17-year-old Muslim girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered after leaving a mosque with her friends.“
I don’t want you to just look at the picture of this girl and just feel sad, I want you to get upset. I want you to demand justice for this girl and her family. I want you to demand justice for Muslims in America.
Say her name, Nabra Hassanen.
The other teenagers with her were able to run away or left her behind but this girl was kidnapped. She was to be beaten to death and thrown in a pond. This worries me for a number of reasons. This could have been me or someone in my family and the police are not even investigating this as a hate crime. Where is the justice?
Police tell PEOPLE there is no evidence that points to a hate crime.‘….. really?!
Look at the genuine smile on this girl. Her eyes are full of joy, all who knew her, stated how sweet and nice she was. No one deserves to die in such a terrible way.
